Feeding and positioning

Physical therapy for how your baby is held and positioned for a bottle or breast, and for a head turn that gets in the way.

This care is for you if

  • Feeding is easier on one side than the other

  • Your baby arches, stiffens or slides down when held for a feed

  • Holding your baby for a feed hurts your arms or back

  • A lactation consultant or pediatrician suggested a physical therapist

What a visit looks like

  • What we do

Aubrey looks at how your baby moves and is held for a feed, and shows you positions that suit your baby and your body. She works alongside your pediatrician and whoever helps with feeding, and does not replace them.

  • What decides how many visits

How your baby responds to the positions, how feeding goes at home and what Aubrey sees at each visit. She tells you when to come back, change course or finish.

  • Who treats your baby

Aubrey, a physical therapist, treats every visit herself. You stay with your baby the whole time.

    Meet Aubrey
  • How it is paid for

You pay for each visit yourself. We send a written estimate first and give you a detailed receipt after each visit.

    How fees work
  • Call your pediatrician first if

Your baby chokes, turns blue or gray, or struggles to breathe while feeding (call 911), or has a fever, is hard to wake, will not feed or is not wetting diapers (call your pediatrician first).

  • What to bring

A bottle or snack, a spare outfit and diapers, a favorite toy, and the name of your baby's pediatrician.

Questions about this care

Do you help with swallowing or latch?

No. Swallowing and feeding therapy and breastfeeding support are other specialties. Aubrey helps with how your baby moves and how you hold them, and helps you find that care.

Do you need a note from whoever helps with feeding?

No, but it helps. If you would like Aubrey to work alongside them, she asks your permission before she contacts them.

Ready to book a first visit?

You do not need to describe the problem in a form. Aubrey asks you in person.
